Shannon's Journey

Shannon Lowe became a part of the UK HealthCare Support Ltd team in AUG 2023, initially as a newcomer to the field of care. To kickstart her journey, Shannon enrolled in our Care Certificate Training program. Her dedication and genuine enthusiasm for care work quickly became apparent, and clients often specifically requested her assistance when possible.

After successfully completing the initial training, Shannon continued to advance her skills and knowledge by achieving her Level 2 Adult Care Worker qualification, which was generously supported and funded by UK Health Care Support. As her experience grew, Shannon received specialized training in various clinical techniques to provide comprehensive support to clients with complex needs. This not only benefited our clients but also contributed significantly to Shannon’s professional growth.

Shannon transitioned to an office role, where she took on the responsibility of coordinating rosters for the Derby and Nottingham areas. Her exceptional performance led to her promotion as a Field Care Supervisor for the branch, where she now plays a pivotal role in supporting both new and existing team members in the field.

Shannon’s commitment to personal and professional development remains unwavering. She has set her sights on continuing her journey by pursuing her NVQ Level 3 qualification, ensuring she continues to provide the highest level of care and support to our clients

Orientation Training

We offer comprehensive training to all new team members, whether you come with prior qualifications or are new to the field of care. This training equips you with the essential knowledge required to provide exceptional care to the vulnerable individuals under our care.

Prior to commencing your duties, you’ll embark on a tailored learning journey that suits your specific needs. This learning includes a combination of eLearning modules, classroom-based instruction, and hands-on shadow shifts in your chosen work area.

For those who have already obtained their Care Certificate, the requirement involves completing 12 eLearning modules, typically taking approximately six hours in total. You need not complete them all at once; the flexibility is available.

In addition, you’ll undertake three virtual training sessions covering medication administration, emergency procedures, and safe moving and handling. These sessions collectively demand around nine hours of your time.

If you haven’t yet obtained the Care Certificate, you’ll need to attend three additional virtual sessions, encompassing Introduction to Care, Policy Workshop, and Practical Skills. Furthermore, there are four supplementary eLearning modules designed to support the Care Certificate Programme that you must complete.

Observational Training

As a component of our thorough onboarding process, we mandate that all new team members participate in shadowing shifts within their selected work area. This invaluable experience enables you to collaborate closely with one of our seasoned caregivers and gain firsthand insight into the delivery of our high-quality care.

Throughout these shadowing shifts, you will have the chance to reinforce the skills acquired from our training modules and apply them in a practical context, under the guidance of an experienced mentor.

Specialized Instruction

If your ambition is to offer specialized care to individuals with complex needs such as dementia or Parkinson’s, then you will need additional training. Providing exceptional care to those with intricate medical requirements demands a deeper level of knowledge and skill.

At UK HealthCare Support Ltd, we are dedicated to delivering expert specialized care to individuals with ongoing care needs or complex medical conditions. As you progress in your career with us, we offer the opportunity for further specialized support and advanced training in complex care.
